About Selunea
Selunea is a personal horoscope calculated from your birth chart — from your date, time and place of birth, not just your Sun sign. This page explains who runs the service, how we calculate and where to find the rules.
What Selunea is
Selunea is a website and app with horoscopes, birth charts, tarot and numerology. We treat them as entertainment and a moment of reflection: we do not predict the future "for sure", we do not treat illness and we do not give advice on health, money or law. The service is intended for adults only.

How we calculate
Every result starts with astronomical calculations, not with text. This is what we calculate and how:
- Planets: geocentric, apparent positions (corrected for light time and aberration), in the tropical zodiac, on the true ecliptic and equinox of date (with precession and nutation). We use the astronomy-engine library under the MIT licence.
- Rising sign and MC (Midheaven): from local sidereal time and the obliquity of the ecliptic at the moment of birth.
- Houses: the Placidus system. For latitudes above 66°, where Placidus does not exist, we use the Porphyry system. In general horoscopes for the signs we use solar houses (the Sun sign as the first house).
- Lunar node: the mean node (Meeus formula). A planet is retrograde when its speed along the ecliptic is negative.
- Aspects: with orbs of 8° for the Sun and Moon and 6° for the other points.
- Place and time: places of birth come from the GeoNames database (CC BY 4.0 licence), and time zones and daylight saving from the IANA time zone database (tzdata), so we convert local time to universal time taking time changes into account.
- Tarot: the Rider–Waite–Smith deck from 1909 (public domain).
How the content is prepared
The descriptions in the horoscopes are prepared automatically by the Selunea system from calculated data: planet positions, signs, houses and aspects. Before a text reaches you it goes through an automatic check (including banned phrases, repetition and the form of the answer). The details are in the terms, and the rules for processing personal data are in the privacy policy.

We write warmly and concretely, without scaring anyone and without verdicts. We do not give medical, psychological, financial or legal advice. If you notice a mistake in the content or in the calculations, write to kontakt@selunea.pl.
